Jarvis, Edith Louise
Retired External Affairs
Edith passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024 in her 102nd year. She was born December 2, 1922 in Cupar, Saskatchewan. She was the youngest child of Frederick and Caroline (Silzer) Jarvis. Predeceased by her parents, sisters Eva Small, Laura Lindars, Kathleen Cole and a brother Bert Jarvis. Survived by her caring nieces and nephews in Western Canada and by valued friends throughout Canada and abroad. Employed in the Public Service of Canada for 34 years, Edith retired in 1975 from (then) the Department of External Affairs where she had an interesting and satisfying career. She had assignments in Belgrade, Geneva (UN Mission), Rangoon (seconded to the British Embassy), Tel Aviv and the Headquarters in Ottawa. At her request there will be no funeral service. It is suggested that friends might remember her kindness and generosity with a smile and a charitable act. Special thanks for exceptional assistance go to her attentive longtime neighbours at Juliana Apartments and to Seniors on Site caregiver, Thelma Roy and her husband, Barry.
