It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Edith Madalene Quinn after a courageous struggle. Edith was a proud Newfoundlander, born in St. John's Nfld. She was the devoted and beloved wife of Joseph William Quinn for almost 74 years. She was so proud of and loved by her daughters Gloria Hare of Calgary, AB and Donna McInnis Lyle (Terry) of Ottawa, ON and passed away in their arms on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. She will be proudly remembered by her grandchildren Shannon McInnis (Sean McIlveen) of Whitby, ON, Tyson Hare of Los Angeles, CA, Ashley McInnis (Jennifer) of Toronto, ON and D'Arcy Hare (Kim Ross) of Cochrane, AB. Mom was the overjoyed G.G. of great grandchildren Ceili and Sam McIlveen, Jayden McInnis and Sebastian Hare all whom she loved dearly. Edith was predeceased by her parents Gertrude and Arthur Cook, sisters Ethel Duffet, Winnie Summers, Allison Kerwin, brothers Clarence and Ronald of St. John's, NFLD and all of her late brother-in-laws and sisters-in-laws. She has left to mourn sisters Olive Haynes, Gertrude Gladney, brother Arthur Cook, sister-in-law Olive Cook of St. John's, NFLD, brother-in-law Donald Quinn and sister-in-law Lois Beed of Halifax, NS. Mom will be remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Special mention to Brenda Cook, Elaine Barnes and Bernice Carter who Edith loved so much and appreciated all they did for her. Edith will also be remembered by Terry's children Kelly, Tracy, Colleen, Heather and their children. Mom was to celebrate her 100 th birthday on September 5 th so we will be honouring her with a Funeral Service at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Stittsville, ON on that date at 1:00 pm, with a celebration of her life later that day at the Prince of Wales Manor, at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Queensway Carleton Hospital would be appreciated.
