Dr. Gilles De La Salle

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Gilles de la Salle on June 8, 2023, with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Dr. Linda Robinson of 36 years. Cherished brother of François de la Salle (Donna) and father of Joel, Sara, and Lianne.

Gilles was born in Ottawa on October 21, 1946 to Jean-Baptiste and Isabelle (nee Parent). He was a brilliant and dedicated student who went on to complete his medical training at the University of Ottawa, following by a residency in anesthesiology (McGill University) and a fellowship in cardiac anesthesiology (St. Thomas' Hospital, London, England). In his earlier years, he travelled across the world and enjoyed spending time on his sailboat.

Gilles spent the majority of his career working at the Ottawa Heart Institute as a cardiac anesthesiologist. After an initial retirement, he went back to work at the Kemptville District Hospital. He enjoyed his work and was well-liked by his colleagues.

In his later years, he enjoyed his days on the golf course with his friends and traveling to new destinations with his wife. He was always there to help his family and was the ‘go-to’ man for any of life’s problems. He will be dearly missed.
