After having been Cultural Attaché to the Uruguayan Embassy in Washington, D.C. in the 1960's, he again served in a similar capacity in Canada.
After retirement, Paco and Rosita dedicated time to family, friends, travel and philanthropy, most notably supporting a network of public schools in Uruguay and the non-profit Clemente Estable Foundation, of which Paco was President for many years.
His interests were broad and eclectic, ranging from science to literature, music to soccer, philosophy to politics, theology to theatre.
