Douglas MacKechnie

Passed away peacefully at the age of 96 years. Beloved husband to Helen MacKechnie (Tullis, predeceased).  Father of Peter (Anik Bédard), Stephen (Karen), Cathy (Ted Murphy) and Nancy (Robb Stewart).  Grandfather of Mia, Sam, Emma, Jacob, Nathan, Abby, Jae and uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by brothers Ronald and Laurie. Survived by sister Lorna Townsend (Elmo). Doug was born in Onslow (Wyman) in western Quebec, on the north shore of the Ottawa River, and was a resident of Ottawa and Norway Bay (Quebec). Doug was a long-time member of Bells Corners United Church. Friends may call at Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) on Sunday, November 5 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at Bells Corners United Church on Monday, November 6 at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow in the church hall. Tubman Funeral Homes website will provide a link to a live stream of the funeral. Interment will be held at Norway Bay Cemetery after the reception.
