April 19, 1932 – April 30, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doug at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Thursday, April 30 from complications related to COVID-19. He was predeceased by his beloved Ruth, cherished wife of fifty-five years, and his two sons Alex and Mark (Joy). He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Sue (George) and Jennifer, as well as his seven grandchildren: Jordan (Ashley), Winter, April, Kayleigh, Gillian, Jasmine (Richard) and Douglas (Ashley); and his great grandchildren, Hailey, Brody, Ethan, Colton and Jaxon. He is fondly remembered by friends, nieces and nephews.  Doug had an indomitable spirit and overcame many challenges in his life. He was a loving husband, caring father, devoted friend and successful businessman. He had a wonderful sense of humour and was always ready with a joke. A sports enthusiast, he never missed a Sens game. Doug loved playing golf and was a passionate antique golf artifact collector. In his room, Doug surrounded himself with numerous photos of those he loved, including his much-loved pets. He would look at them and often remark that he had had a good life.  We would like to thank the staff at Carlingview Manor and the ACE unit of the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their hard work and dedication.  We are especially grateful to them for allowing Doug’s daughters to visit him while he was gravely ill. This kindness brought great comfort. A celebration of life will be arranged for Doug in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation or the Arnprior Humane Society. Condolences, tributes and donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
