Dorothy Helene Parslow (nee Rourke)
June 22, 1931 - November 24, 2014
In her 83rd year it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend in her home town of Ottawa. Dorothy is survived by her son Harry (Susan), daughters Deborah and Kathryn (Richard), son David (Tracey) and 13 grandchildren, Mark (Cezanne), Brock (Karen), Scott (Miranda), Kelly (and fiance Troy), Scott, Adam (and friend Carly), Jennifer (Craig), Andrew (and fiance Robyn), Mark, Alexandra (Alex), (and the late Valerie), Ross, Madison and, by her great granddaughter, Sophia. Dorothy is predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate of 54 years, Wing Commander Glen Stephen Parslow, by her mother Mina, father Bert, step father Robert, and by her brother Robert and his wife Dorothy, and by her sister Nancy and her husband Donald. Dorothy and Glen made a wonderful life for their family traveling widely as a result of Glen’s flying career with the RCAF. They subsequently created a joyous and comfortable homestead at 510 Fielding Court in Ottawa which became the iconic gathering place for her cherished family and was a favoured venue for friends alike. Indeed this speaks to the nature of Dorothy as an extraordinary, selfless, loving mother and friend. Never was this quality more evident than during the many months preceding Glen’s death when she insisted on being constantly by his side and doing whatever she could to help, without regard for herself. Dorothy will always be remembered as an exceptional and loving wife and mother for whom the welfare of her family mattered most. And now she has gone to heaven to join with Glen forever. May God Bless. The family wishes to acknowledge the very caring and dedicated staff at the Robertson House Retirement Residence in Bells Corners who over many years have helped attend to our mothers needs and have always treated her with the utmost dignity and respect…thank you for caring. A private ceremony involving close family is planned however donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would happily be accepted.
Skinny marinky dinky dink Granny….we love you!
