1942 – 2024

Dorothy McGill, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on March 28, 2024, at the age of 81. Beloved wife of Jim McGill. Loving mother of Cynthia (Michael) Katz, John (Chrisann) Lancaster, Adam (Jenn) McGill, Ethan McGill, Daine (Stacie) McGill, Joy (Mike) McGill, Kathleen (Andrew) Bryson and Blair Simser our 5th son. Proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Dear sister of James (Hanna) Macartney, Donald (Sue) Macartney, Elizabeth Macartney (late Gord Smith), Jane (Richard) Burgess and Margaret (Bruce) Joyce. Predeceased by her parents Linton Macartney and Evelyn Ruth Browne. We extend our deepest gratitude to all those (Aisha, Daine and Stacie) who made it possible for Dorothy to remain in the comfort of her own home during her final years.

Dorothy was a pillar of strength for her family, offering unconditional love and support in every endeavor. In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed gardening, travelling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her loved ones. She found joy in life's simple pleasures and instilled a sense of gratitude in those around her. Dorothy's memory will be forever treasured by her loving family and friends. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in her honor. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
