Dorothy Lily Marshall

Her Excellency Lady Dorothy Marshall passed peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus on Friday, January 31, 2025. A mother, friend, educator, health practitioner and guiding light to so many across Canada and internationally. 

Spouse of the late Sir James Robertson Marshall (1992) and mother to Pamela (Alan) Holt, and Ian (Judith) Marshall. Grandmother to Robertson Bruce Holt (2023) and Julie Holt (Vaspan). Aunt to Maureen Cabeldu and family. 

Known to many in her various pioneering capacities as the lead practitioner of the Natural Health Centre/the Marshall Health Clinic, Founder of the first all-female Marshall Real Estate and Insurance Company in Ottawa and Belleville, Co-Founder and first President of the Reflexology Association of Canada, and Co-Founder of the first structured natural health education college in Eastern Canada which evolved to become the International Academy of Applied Health in Ottawa (now triOS College). Known also as an international speaker and health educator, an author and columnist, and an advisor to charities. 

Dorothy was also a member of the Diplomatic Corps World Health & Peace, and a recipient of the Star of Asia and Dag Hamerskjold awards. She received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal, presented to her at Parliament Hill. 

Lady Dorothy has been an inspiration, pioneer, educator, and model for living one’s life naturally. She will be missed by her family, her many former clients, students & faculty, as well as her friends across Canada and internationally. 

A Service in Memory of Dorothy’s life will be held on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, at Tubman Funeral Home Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, at 2:00pm in the chapel. Reception to follow.
