We sadly announce the passing of Dorothy Lucille Taggart on Monday, November 20, 2017 in her 99 th year. Beloved wife of the late James Taggart. Loving mother of James Lockhart Craig (Susan) and Douglas Ian (Kim) both of Kanata, Ontario. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Amanda and Michael of Kanata, Joanne of Kemptville and Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Gordon all of Kanata, great-granddaughters Lily, Ashley, Briar and Emma and great-grandsons Ethan and Logan. She is predeceased by her brother Basil Donald (Dorothy) of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and survived by her sisters Jean St Mars of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Cynthia Croucher of Capistrano Beach, California. She will be lovingly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews in Winnipeg, Vancouver and the United States. Prior to her marriage in 1951 she resided in Washington, D.C. working for the War Production Board, Canadian Division, the Department Munitions and Supply (Canada), and later with the first World Food Conference in Washington and at the United Nations. In Ottawa, she was active with the Ottawa Women's Canadian Club, a member of the Friends of the National Gallery, and Engineers' Wives Association, also the Friends of the Farm and she was a former member of the Granite Curling Club, the Pointe Claire Curling Club, Quebec and the Carleton Golf and Yacht Club. Friends may attend a memorial service at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, ON, (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at 1 p.m. Should family and friends so desire, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation or the Parkinsons Society.
