Doris Norma Maiden
Sept 27, 1932 – Dec 23, 2022
Doris passed away peacefully at the Civic Hospital at the age of 90 years surrounded by loving family. She was married for 68 years to Donald Maiden, who pre-deceased her in July, 2022. She will be sadly missed by her daughters, the “Maiden girls”; Karen, Cathy, Beth, Donna, and their partners, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as 1 sister, 3 sisters in law, many other family members, and her bridge group.
Doris graduated from the Ottawa Civic Hospital School of Nursing and turned her love for babies into a career as an obstetrical nurse until the demands of the family took precedence. Nothing was more important to her. She is remembered by all as someone who celebrated and created new family traditions, as well as being an amazing manager and organizer. She was a dedicated volunteer in figure skating and became President of the Nepean Figure Skating Club. This led to her discovering a passion for accounting for figure skating competitions culminating in volunteering at the 1988 Olympics in Calgary.
After retirement, she enjoyed winters in Florida with Don becoming an avid lawn bowler.
The celebration will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Bayshore and Baseline Road) on Thursday, July 6th, 2023 at 11 a.m., followed by light refreshments. Visitation will be held prior to the celebration beginning at 10 a.m. .
