Donna Evron Lisk

Donna succumbed to a sudden health crisis while on vacation with friends, surrounded by people who loved her. 

Pre-deceased by her parents Harold and Evron (Barrington) and only sister Rhonda (Chisholm), Donna led a simple life of quiet faith, starting with the United Church in Eganville, then Baptist churches in Edmonton and Ottawa, ultimately moving on to the Met, and in the last years of her life, Sequoia Community Church in Barrhaven. 

Growing up in Eganville, she was an athlete and cheerleader in high school and subsequently went on to university to pursue her dream of a career in speech therapy until health issues forced her to abandon that goal. For most of her adult years she had to deal with an increasing number of health challenges that limited her range to some degree, but she bore her afflictions uncomplainingly and with quiet perseverance. 

For many years she volunteered with the Aphasia centre in Ottawa to use her education to help stroke victims recover their ability to speak. She retired from this when the centre relocated to a site Donna could no longer easily get to. Her external activities after this were mainly church-related such as singing on the worship team at Parkdale Baptist Church and simply enjoying the company of friends and family. 

She was kind and generous and will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her delight in simple things, her determination and self-discipline. Truly a life well lived under difficult circumstances. Those who know her will miss her terribly, but we rest assured that she is now safely in the arms of her Saviour free from all her afflictions, and in that we rejoice.

 Visitation will be from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, Thursday, July 18th at the Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa. A brief memorial service will follow.
