Donald Helman

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Don Helman on September 12th, 2024. He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Cindy, four children, Tracey (Peter), Mandey (Brian), Corey and Bradley. He was a loving grandfather to Tia, Anthony, Alyssa, Abbagail and Lucas. He was the son of Ronald and Dorothy Helman. He also leaves behind two brothers Gary (Cindy) and Kip (Mel) and many nieces and nephews. 

Don was retired from a long career of 32 years with OC Transpo. His fun-loving attitude brought many hours of community involvement volunteering his time at many city events acting as the mascot, Owl. He also volunteered many hours with the Motorcycle Ride for Dad which brought him to a role on the executive board as Co-chair. His beautiful white beard made him the perfect Santa where he attended many events throughout the city including pet shops. 

He will be dearly missed by his family and his many friends. 

Family and friends are invited to the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean on Wednesday, September 25 at 10:00 a.m. for Visitation. Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Interment of ashes to follow at Merivale United Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
