ATKINSON, D.G. (Don)

With family by his side, Don passed away on November 19 th at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Marie (Turley) for over 60 years, loving father of daughters Lynn (Dave) Coyne and Vicky (Steve) Apperley. Grandfather to Ryan Apperley (Brigette), Taylor Apperley (Josh), and Emily Coyne (Alex). Son of the late Jack and Marie Atkinson; brother of Robert (late Rose) Atkinson and the late Edward (late Lois) Atkinson.
Don was born and raised in Saskatchewan, where he studied at the University of Saskatchewan, graduating with a B. Comm. He subsequently earned an M.B.A. at Michigan State University. He spent 34 years in the RCAF/Canadian Forces, serving in a number of locations across Canada, and in Germany, Africa, and the USA.
At Don's request, he has been cremated and his ashes will be buried at a private family service at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery, Frankford, Ontario.
Don's family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Grace Wu (Hematologist) and Christine, Joan, and Heather of the Ambulatory Care Clinic (QCH). In appreciation for the extraordinary and compassionate care that Don and his family received from the many staff and volunteers at the Central West Hospice, donations may be made in Don's memory to Hospice Care Ottawa, directed to the Central West Hospice (www.hospicecareottawa.ca).
