Dieter Hollweck

Surrounded by the presence and love of his family, Dieter passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the age of 80. The only son of Anna and Hans Hollweck, Dieter was the beloved partner of Maggie Neuhaus and proud father of Trista and Camilla (with Bobbi Winnberg). He was a loving Opa to Molly, Mckinley and Kalla (Pierre Barber) and Hunter and Harlow (Matt Parry) and Opi to Émerik and Amelia (Dany and Mathieu) and Méderik and Klea (Sylvain and Melissa). Dieter will be missed by his half-sister Waltraud (Rudi Niegratschenka) and nephews Dieter and Klaus in Germany.

Born in Freiburg/Umkirch in the Blackforest region, Dieter and his family immigrated to Winnipeg and Pine Falls area of Manitoba in 1953. He was a graduate of United College (B.A) and University of Manitoba (MBA). A true entrepreneur, Dieter was an accomplished, brilliant, generous and kind human. He will be remembered for his unwavering positive attitude, cheerful spirit, creative ideas and uplifting emails to friends and family. A public Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 11 at 3pm at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa (at Roosevelt). The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Ottawa General Hospital and the Ottawa Cancer Clinic for their outstanding care and compassion, especially Dr. Fought, Dr. Bella, Dr. El Safar, Dr. Jonkers. We are also thankful to the Ottawa paramedics for their empathy and professionalism.

If desired, donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation ( www.ohfoundation.ca ) and the Canadian Cancer society ( www.cancer.ca ) will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers.
