Peacefully in hospital at Lindsay, ON on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, age 67 years. Predeceased by her parents, Jack and Dora Pratt of North Gower, Diane was the best friend and wife of Wayne Parks. Dear mother of Kelly Steinsky (Stan) and Kevin Brown (Dawn). Loving “Nan” of Trevor, Tanner and Jack Steinsky and Kaylynn and Jamie Brown. As well as honorary “Nan” to Mackenzie and Kourtney King. Cherished sister of Barbara Render (Ray) and Carol Thomas (Gerry) and Gordie Pratt (Lori). Remembered with much love by her nieces and nephews, Stephen and Sara, Brad and Greg and Michael and Krystle. Diane enjoyed her career as a nurse for many years working in Ottawa and in Fort St. John, British Columbia. She was known for her caring and compassion and her wonderful sense of humour. After retirement to Kenora, Ontario in 2004, Diane and Wayne operated a guiding service for hunters from Canada and the U.S. Diane shared her warm hospitality and amazing meals with the hunters, who soon became friends. Although living at a distance Diane was passionate about maintaining her close connection to her family and friends all across the country. The family is especially thankful for the kindness and compassionate care received by nurses and doctors in the Palliative Care Unit at the Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario. Friends are invited to visit at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 1610 Rogers Stevens Dr., Kars (East of Hwy 416) on Friday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial service will be held in the chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment Malakoff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation, it was this kind facility and the caring people in it that gave Diane the chance to be home and say her final good byes.
