Diana Pattee

March 20, 1926 — October 7, 2013

Diana Pattee (Muriel Diana May Moyes) age 87, in the presence of immediate family and close friends passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital ICU on Sunday Oct 6, 2013 of heart failure. She passed away quietly under compassionate nursing care. Diana is survived by her son Peter Brett Pattee, his daughters Sara Diana Pattee and Kayla Brett Pattee. Her grand daughters Alexandra Pattee and Charlotte Pattee and close personel friend John Robert Hudson. Diana was predeceased by her mother and father, sister Irene in England (1982), husband Lynus Raitt Pattee in Ottawa (1988) and first son Philo Lance Pattee in Ottawa (2001). Diana was born March 20 1926 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Second daughter of Henry James Moyes and Gladys Muriel (nee, Hems). Diana began training as a ballerina at age 4. At 15 she finished her formal training and enrolled in finishing ballet school in London. Diana's professional career started with engagements on the London stage during the War. In 1942 she joined ENSA (Entertainments National Service Association)under taking difficult and dangerous tours abroad to entertain British troops close to the fighting. In India Burma, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia and the Italian front lines in 1944. After the war Diana returned to the London stage to perform in many ballets. In 1947 she signed a long term contract with the production of "Annie Get Your Gun" By 1950 Diana dancing days were over due to back injury. She found work modeling and stage acting. In 1951 she forsook the stage to marry an RCAF pilot. Diana returned with him to Canada in 1952 where they raised 2 boys during RCAF postings in Ottawa, Trenton, Saskatoon and RMC Kingston. Upon Lynus's retirement from the RCAF the family moved to Ottawa in 1968. During this time in Ottawa Diana studied art and became a successful painter in oils, with showings in several galleries. As a widow in August 1993, Diana became the companion of fellow widower John Hudson. The relationship blossomed for over twenty years. They toured the world together seeing Canada, USA, Mexico, UK, France , Greece, Turkey, Australia , New Zealand, Fiji, Venice and Switzerland. Diana was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Wife and Companion. Diana will be greatly missed by all. A private graveside service will beheld at the Cassburn cemetery. In lieu of flowers. Donations can be made to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation. ICU unit or the TCU unit.
