After a brief illness, Deb passed away on December 7, 2013. Born February 16, 1923, he served in the Canadian Army from 1942 - 1967 including being overseas from December 1944 - August 1945. In 1966 he was awarded a patent for an adjustable antenna. He retired as a DND civilian in May 1983. Deb will miss his dear friend and pastor, Marek Sabol; members of his congregation; Dr. Tracy Sullivan and Melanie; his PCW and friend Nimo; his housekeeper and friend Anju; Cathy at Shoppers Merivale Pharmacy; Dr. Laboncz and staff; neighbours at his condominium building and coffee companions at Carlingwood. Predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Survived by 4 sisters, including Ruth who at 97, remains the link between family members. Deb was very good to his daughter Valerie and Bill Reeves. Many of his traits, good and bad, live on in his daughter Jennifer (Dave MacDonald). Deb has now gone to join Jo, his wife for 66 years, who he lovingly cared for until her death last year. A memorial service for his friends will be held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 715 Roosevelt Avenue on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at 1 p.m. Special thanks to the Heart Institute who cared for Deb three years ago; the Civic Hospital, B2 for the care he recently received and to the Veterans Affairs Independence Program for the support they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation would be appreciated.
