May 6, 1961 to August 16, 2022

After a long, hard fought battle with cancer, Dave passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on August 16th, 2022. Dave is predeceased by his father Lawrence and brothers Tom and Larry. Left to mourn his loss are his beloved mother Edith Ford Wemmers and stepfather Robert, his wife and soulmate Brenda and his awesome daughter Amanda. Also left to mourn are his brothers Terry (Carole) and Jim (Debra) as well as his sister-in-law Cathy. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and numerous friends.

During his stay at Elizabeth Bruyere Hospital, Dave enjoyed all the visits and phone calls from family and friends. They brightened his days immensely and he was grateful for every one of them. A very special thank you to all the staff in Palliative Care on the 5th floor at Elizabeth Bruyere. The care and compassion from everyone for Dave and his family were very comforting and so very much appreciated. We know it wasn’t easy and there were numerous hurdles but you gave Dave his wish of  going home. For that we are eternally grateful. We also want to thank the Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Team at the General Hospital for all they did for Dave.   To Dr. O’Connell and his staff, we can’t thank you enough for all that you have done.  You had been on this journey with the family from the beginning and your compassion and guidance helped us immensely.  Thank you for always being there.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Dave on Sunday September 18th from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Marlborough Community Centre, 3048 Pierce Rd, North Gower.
