Craig is survived by his wife Sally, son Adam (Glenda) and daughter Valerie Mitchell (Alex) and his cherished grandchildren Sophia Claire & Maya Grace Mitchell and Ashton Craig Davidson. He is also survived by his brother Roger (Cherie) and sister Barbara (Dib) Vitale and many adored nieces and nephews.
Born in Victoria, B.C., a retired teacher, music consultant, vice-principal and principal with the Ottawa Board of Education, he thoroughly enjoyed his 35 years in the school system, which included four years overseas (1978-1982) seconded to DND Schools in Baden and Heidelberg, Germany.
Craig's love of music opened several doors as a part time radio announcer at CFMO-FM, as the founding Director of what was then The Ottawa Police Male Chorus (1972-1990) and in his role as music consultant going into schools and leading school sing-a-longs.
In retirement, Craig pursuing his love of wine, represented Strewn Estate Winery Niagara-on-the-Lake (1996-2004) both as a consultant to the winery and as a representative. During this time he also served as an Instructor and a Co-ordinator of The Sommelier Certification Programme at Algonquin College (2003-2008). Craig also enjoyed volunteering at The Ottawa Civic Hospital Medical Day Unit and driving for The Canadian Guide Dogs for the Blind during his retirement. We invite you to celebrate Craig's life at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 1610 Rogers Stevens Dr, Kars on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 2:00-4:00pm & 7:00-9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Craig's memory to The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
