Suddenly on Sunday July 28, 2013, in his 66th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Shirley (Maheral). Dear Father of Andrea Elizabeth and Peter Matheson. Cherished Grampy of James and Victoria Foottit. Loving Godfather of Kristina Maheral Sundin. Dear brother of Melissa Tsangaris (Andreas). Proud Uncle of Theo and Matthaios Tsangaris. Predeceased by his parents Aubrey Matheson Gay and Helen Louise Roberta (Emmerson). Son-in-law of the late Elwood and Inez Maheral. Brother-in-law to the Maheral Family – Allan (Donna), Bruce (Rachel), Ken (Suzanne), Glen (Aline), Wayne (Patricia) and Connie (Claude Graziadei).
Chris was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He joined the Canadian Air Force in September 1967 where he had a 13-year career before retiring in 1979. He then worked for Automatic Electric in Brockville. Following this, Chris worked at Microtel and BC Telephone in Vancouver, BC. He returned to Ottawa in 1987 with BC Telephone. While in Ottawa, Chris worked for several companies, including Northern Telecom, Lavalin and CAL, where he specialized in international business.
In 1996, Chris took a calculated risk and joined Resorption Canada Limited (RCL) to lead a world-changing waste conversion technology company. In 2005, RCL became Plasco Energy Group, where Chris held an executive leadership position. While at Plasco, he led the company's efforts abroad, including establishing Plasco's presence in China. To his very last day Chris worked passionately to ensure the success of this technology.
Chris will be greatly missed by his many family, friends and business associates. Chris requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute or The Ottawa Hospital Foundation for Respiratory Research.
Friends may visit at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd., Nepean (between Baseline Road and Bayshore Drive) on Wednesday, July 31st, from 6 to 9pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the Garden Chapel on Thursday, August 1st, at 11am
