Chantal Sarah Marie Lord

August 21, 1981 — October 4, 2023

LORD, Chantal Sarah Marie – Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the age of 42. Loving daughter of Laurie and Daniel Lord. Dear sister of Amanda Lord (Justin). Loving aunt of Karley Jo. Granddaughter of Wilma Greatrex (the late Terry) and Lina Lord (the late Conrad). Chantal will be sadly missed by her extended family and many friends.

Chantal Was born in Winnipeg Manitoba. She grew up as a child in Lorette a small town just outside of Winnipeg. Chantal was a happy and active girl playing soccer, baseball, figure skating, girl guides and dance classes. She enjoyed years of hunting, fishing, camping and exploring the outdoors with her Winnipeg family. At the age of 16, her family moved to Cochrane, Alberta where Chantal finished her high school years and graduated with a focus on theatre arts. In Alberta, Chantal got her first jobs working at McKays ice cream and tutoring young children. In the year 2000, again her family relocated - this time to Carp, Ontario where both she and her family were welcomed and supported by the Carp Agricultural Society. Chantal attended Algonquin college and graduated from the theatre arts program. The highlight of her college experience outside of all the great friends and people she attended with was her starring role in The Cherry Orchard as the matriarch.  Chantal was compassionate, generous and creative. As her mitochondrial SANDO disorder evolved and her abilities diminished she was able still share those qualities with others by participating in Carp Fair decorating by painting wooden pallet pumpkins, building scarecrows and helping as she could.  She hosted children’s craft activities on the lawn of The Hive on Saturdays .  Drive in Bingos certainly a favourite activity every year in July. She was charitable when she could be and supported fundraisers by baking up her Nom Nom Dog Treats to be auctioned and she may have bid on an item or two herself. She enjoyed attending plays and movies, outings to Dairy Queen, and  just going for a drive.

Chantal always appreciated the tremendous support from the Carp Agricultural Society for her and her family.  She was also thankful for the group support and friendship received from the Ottawa Ataxia Support group. Chantal wanted to express her appreciation for the support that her Mom felt from her TD family. She was always grateful for the help she received from many places and individuals. Bill, Sandra and Kelly Wilson were always there when a pick up was needed. Chantal held special love for niece Karley Jo, sister Amanda, brother in law Justin, her cousin Melissa, her best friend Guy and his children Makayla and McKenzie who all  brought so much to her, especially in her final days.

A memorial visitation will be held at the Carp Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes (115 Rivington Street, Carp) on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 3:00 p.m.  Reception to follow at Homestead 1880 Events at 5791 Carp Road, Kinburn.
