We are heartbroken to share the passing of Cecil J. White.
Cecil passed peacefully at home on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at the age of 88. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean White (nee Moran), daughters Jennifer and Debbie (Shawn), grandchildren Emily (Jonathan), Krista (Henry) and Keiran (Grace) and sister, Lois Bennett (nee White). Predeceased by his parents, John “Jack” Cecil and Barbara Emily White (nee Weatherall), sisters Nancy (John) Pink (nee White) & Barbara (late Vernon) Bennett (nee White), and brother-in-law Richard “Dick” Bennett. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, including his furry, four-legged great-grandchildren.
Cecil spent over 40 years working as a steel plate printer with The British American Banknote Company, where he mastered several generations of steel plate presses and delivered currency and passports for countries all around the globe. A huge Ottawa Senators fan since day one, Cecil loved his local team and could often be heard "coaching" them through his TV set. He took no greater joy than seeing the Sens defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs, and loved watching Canada beat the US in the recent Four Nations hockey series.
We would like to extend our thanks to the City of Ottawa first responders who answered our emergency call, and to his long-time family physician, Dr. David MacMillan and all of his team.
