Carol Scott

It is with great sadness and sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of Carol Scott, on 5 August 2013, in her 74th year. Cherished wife of Fred Christie, loving mother of Jeffery Dafoe (Leanne) and Jennifer Dafoe and proud grandmother of Kaitlyn Dafoe, she will be greatly missed by sisters Betty [Don] Cameron and Barbara [Harold] Eagleson. She was predeceased by brothers Arnold and Kenneth and sister Gwen Moberly. She followed closely the lives of her eight nieces and nephews - Sandra, Sharon, Judith, Cynthia, Scott, Kelly, Lori and Susan - and their children. Born and raised on the Scott family farm in Strathmore [Arthur Scott, Joy Brownell], she learned the value and necessity of hard work, as well as a love of flowers at an early age - which prepared her well for a 47 year career as a dedicated registered Nurse [BSN - Uof O, 1990], primarily as a skilled labour and delivery nurse at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, where she participated in over 15,000 births in 43 years of service. An ardent gardener, attracted both by the beautiful and different flowers, she participated in two horticultural clubs. Unable to keep her hands still she was also a productive quilter and rug hooker - the results of which found their way to family, friends and charities. A faithful member of City View United Church, she not only regularly supported the TELCI churchgoers, but also served on a variety of committees when requested to do so. Friends may join us in celebrating this vibrant life at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road [between Bayshore Drive and Baseline Road], on Friday, August 9th from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00. A service will also be held in the Chapel on Saturday, 10th August at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held on Sunday at 2:30 PM at the North Branch Cemetery for family and close friends.
