Peacefully, following a long and courageous battle with brain cancer. Beloved husband of Jo-Anne Scaffidi (nee Henderson). Cherished father of Laura and Sarah. Will be sadly missed by brother Gino (Anne Lavoy), and sister Teresa (Tony Leone). Zio Carm will be fondly remembered by Giannino, Dante, and Anita, and Nicolina. Predeceased by his parents Angela (Catena) and Antonino Scaffidi Argentina. Dear son-in-law of Derrill and Vivian Henderson, brother-in-law of Gail (Reg Angel), uncle to Philip, Dylan, and Steven. Mourned by many other friends and family here and abroad. Carmelo was admired locally and internationally as a gifted professional musician and lead trumpet player. He was a devoted family man with diverse accomplishments. He toured with bands, owned and operated Mike's Music, and was an alumni of the RCMP band. Music was his passion, and he worked with some of the world's top performers. He had high standards and a mind that moved seamlessly across interests that ranged from business to jazz. Carmelo loved hockey. He entertained the crowds with his trumpet at the Senators' home games for many seasons and later at the Ottawa 67's games. Hockey fans can hear him play every time they listen to the Senators theme song. Special thanks to John Abbenda, John Chambers, and Dr. Brian Tansley for all their love and support over the duration of Carmelo's illness. Friends and family may call at Tubman Funeral Homes, Westboro Chapel, 403 Richmond Road on Sunday, January 10 from 6-8 p.m and on Monday, January 11 from 2-4 p.m and 7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 414 Sparks Street, on Tuesday, January 12, at 1 p.m. For those who wish, please consider a donation in Carmelo's memory to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation.
