After a full and inspiring life, Alice died peacefully in her home in her 98th year. She was a vibrant and active member of the community and had a generous spirit guided by a strong sense of faith. She served as a model of strength and service and had a proud connection to an energetic and engaged group of war brides in Ottawa. Her life was marked by voluntarism, from her role guiding people to safety in wartime London to her over three decades of volunteer work with the Ottawa Civic Hospital, her church, and a variety of social groups and choirs. Alice was predeceased by her siblings and her husband John Leslie Campbell. Although deeply saddened also to have been predeceased by her two children, Lorna Jean Connolly (David) and Godfrey John Campbell (Brenda), she derived great joy being the loving grandmother of Tara (Vincent), Scott (Kristy), Julie (Tim) and was immensely proud of her great grandchildren Phoenix and Nerisse, Dawson and Griffin, Jesse Lynn and Collin. Alice will be fondly remembered by the family and many friends she inspired on a daily basis. Visitation will be held on August 8 from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman 403 Richmond Rd (at Roosevelt). Funeral service at Kitchissippi United Church 630 Island Park Drive on August 9 at 3 pm. In recognition of her over 30 years of volunteering for the Ottawa Civic Hospital, donations in her name to the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
