Wilson, Bruce Cathcart

May 29, 1928 – November 26, 2020

Peacefully in hospital on Thursday, November 26, 2020 in his 93rd year.  Beloved husband and best friend of Hazel (Davidson). Much loved and respected father of Catherine Hugli (Ross), Bill (Catherine), and Bob (Jane).  Loving Papa to Scott (Jenna), Lisa (Mike), Craig (Kaitlin), Kyle (Jess), Rielly (Kirsten), Laura (Eric), Alastair (Lonneke) and Charlotte. Proud great-grandpa of Emery, Adley, Hunter, Mason, Sawyer, Hallie, Brinley, Brogan, and Remi.  Bruce is survived by his loving aunt Dot, sister Shirley Brown (Harvey), brother Ross and sister-in-law Leona and was predeceased by his sister-in-law June, brother Tom and his parents Clarence and Agnes (Cathcart) Wilson.

He was a mentor to many and will be fondly remembered by Alex McClure, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.  Bruce was born in Stittsville and became a longtime resident of Richmond.   His career as an electrician included 71 years as a member with the IBEW.  He went on to complete his career with the Federal Government.  Bruce was a faithful member of St. Johns Anglican Church Richmond, Goodwood Masonic Lodge No. 59 and the Richmond Curling Club.  He also served as a Hydro Commissioner in Richmond for 33 years.  Bruce and Hazel enjoyed many years of cottage life at Dalhousie Lake with family and friends.  Bruce loved spending time in his workshop, most recently creating custom Adirondack chairs for his great-grandchildren.  Dad was truly a salt of the earth man whose family came first in all he did.  He will be dearly missed by many.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the Champlain LHIN staff for their excellent professional care.  A private family service will be held at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.  For those wishing to, memorial donations in memory of Bruce may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Richmond, Ontario or the Lung Association.  Bruce, Dad, Papa…..thank you for all of your love….  We will continue to pass it on. Tributes, donations or condolences may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
