Died peacefully at home on February 24, 2021, following recent heart surgery. Born August 1, 1947, Ealing, England, to William Ronald and Mary Patricia (Lynch) Mann. Survived by his wife of 40 years, Joan, daughters Barbara (JP Jauvin), Alison (Brad Fauteux), Jennifer (Jeremy Blair), and son Alexander (Crystal Basler); grandchildren Liam Mann, Eloise and Lilly Fauteux, Emma and Molly Blair, Niko and Chloe Mann; brothers Kenneth Mann (Linda), Ian Mann (Ann), and sister Patricia Younger (Lloyd). Also survived by his special friend, Sandee Cowley, aunts Frances Flaminio and Mary Lynch, cousins, neices and nephews.
Bruce was a retired Department of Justice lawyer. A Queen’s man, prior to studying law, he graduated with a P Eng (Chemical), and later earned a Masters of Public Administration; he served as Legal Counsel to the Chairman of the National Parole Board, was appointed first Access to Information Assistant Commissioner, later served as Legal Counsel at Veterans Affairs and Treasury Board Secretariat, but seemed most satisfied in his career when working on the Radarsat file at Foreign Affairs and International Trade, one of his final assignments prior to retirement.
He was a decent mann, gifted with a wicked wit, a hearty chuckle, and a love of rock n roll music.
Summers at Papineau Lake were a family tradition for years, where fond memories were made for the children and family to cherish forever.
A lifelong traveller, he returned from his most recent odyssey, with his eldest daughter Barb, to India and Sri Lanka, just as borders closed and the world went into lockdown.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private family service, by invitation only, will be held, a live stream of the service will be available at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com/Bruce-Mann. A celebration of life will be held at a late date. The
Memorial donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
