Brian was an esteemed mathematician, graduating from Carleton University (1965) where he went on to play for the Ravens varsity hockey team. Brian was an entrepreneur who went on to start and grow his own business which produced the first media CD in Canada.

Brian’s love of sports was apparent to everyone who knew him. From cheering on his local Ottawa 67s to watching his beloved Detroit Red Wings to traveling with family to enjoy a Toronto Blue Jays game. You could always find Brian enjoying the Brier and Scotties every year.

Brian was also a marathon runner, curler, and softball player for many years.

Brian enjoyed taking and watching his own children participate in their extracurricular activities and on occasion would stop by a chip truck or the local fast-food establishment for a treat on the drive home. Brian was an active father who was very proud of everything Christy, Danny and Matthew accomplished in their lives

Brian loved to travel to Wisconsin with his wife, Geralidine ‘Gerry’ and son Matthew to visit the Nelson family, take in country living and enjoy beer:30.

Brian and Geraldine spent weekends watching their grandkids play hockey, soccer, softball, swimming at the lake and every sport they joined.

Brian loved the cottage where he shared so many memories with so many family and friends. For the lucky ones you may have seen him going for a swim or taking you on a lion hunt around the campfire. Brian looked forward to annual seafood dinners with Susan and John which will never be forgotten.

Brian's family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at Prince of Wales Manor where he called home for the past 3 years, the amazing staff at the local hospitals that cared for him and everyone that supported him and contributed to his quality of life

As per Brian’s final wishes there will not be a formal funeral service, he will be cremated and then his ashes spread in a place where he will be kept forever warm.

“One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

“You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. but I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.” ― Mary Stevenson, The Illustrated Footprints in the Sand
