Dousett, Bill (William, Arthur)

June 20, 1940 - October 30, 2022

Peacefully in hospital, at the age of 82, with his lifelong partner Char by his side, Bill mercifully slipped away in his sleep unexpectedly and without pain moments after wrapping up his daily “I love you chats” with each of his three children and his brother David.

Loving husband, high-school sweetheart and soulmate to Charlotte Dousett (nee Basher). Much adored father of Maja (late Patrick Larose), Leigh (John Gorman), and Dickie (Nancy Muratori). Proud Grampa of Stefanie, Maxime, Brenna, Colin, Olivier and Thomas. Big brother to adored David (Doreen). Father at heart to Gary Waters. Cherished friend to many people, especially from the fishing and education communities of Trois Rivières. Long-time best friend to Jay Grivell, fellow teacher and fishing pal.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the multitude of healthcare professionals, for whom Bill had immeasurable respect, for the care that they gave him over 20+ years.

Born in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Quebec in 1940 to the late Wallace and Florence Dousett (nee Stephenson), Bill moved as a child to Val D’Or, Québec where he eventually captured the heart of Charlotte with whom he spent most of his happily married life in Trois Rivières, Québec.

Bill’s intelligence and curiosity, generosity of spirit, and need to inspire and help people led him to participate and partake in life thoroughly and thoughtfully. From this he was rewarded with huge riches in love, friendships and the satisfaction of making the world a better place. He will be remembered fondly for his indominable spirit, sense of humour, gift of teaching, love of the outdoors, and his creativity (often shared and expressed in exquisitely tied fishing flies and delicious baked goods).

A celebration of Bill's life will take place next spring at a yet to be determined date, (details will later be shared), and will include an opportunity to fish, tie a fly or two, and to raise a glass to our beloved Bill, one of the best of the best.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Bill's memory to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario, currently treating his grandson for cancer, will be given two giant thumbs-up by Bill from heaven.

Paisiblement à l'hôpital, à l'âge de 82 ans, avec son partenaire à vie Charlotte à ses côtés, Bill est décédé dans son sommeil de manière inattendue et sans douleur quelques instants après avoir terminé ses conversations quotidiennes "Je t'aime" avec chacun de ses trois enfants et son frère David.

Mari aimant et amoureux du lycée de Charlotte Dousett (née Basher). Père adoré de Maja (feu Patrick Larose), Leigh (John Gorman) et Dickie (Nancy Muratori). Fier grand-père de Stéfanie, Maxime, Brenna, Colin, Olivier et Thomas. Grand frère de David adoré (Doreen). Père au coeur de Gary Waters. Ami chéri de plusieurs personnes, particulièrement des communautés de pêche et d'éducation de Trois Rivières. Meilleur ami pour la vie de Jay Grivell, collègue enseignant et ami pêcheur.

La famille aimerait reconnaître et remercier la multitude de professionnels de la santé, pour qui Bill avait un respect incommensurable, pour les soins qu'ils lui ont prodigués pendant plus de 20 ans.

Né à Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Québec en 1940 de feu Wallace et Florence Dousett (née Stephenson), Bill a déménagé enfant à Val D'Or, Québec où il a finalement capturé le cœur de Charlotte avec qui il a passé la majeure partie de sa vie heureuse à Trois Rivières, Québec.

L'intelligence et la curiosité de Bill, sa générosité d'esprit et son besoin d'inspirer et d'aider les gens l'ont amené à participer et à prendre part à la vie de manière approfondie et réfléchie. De cela, il a été récompensé par d'énormes richesses en amour, en amitiés et par la satisfaction de rendre le monde meilleur. On se souviendra de lui avec émotion pour son esprit indomptable, son sens de l'humour, son don d'enseignement, son amour du plein air et sa créativité (souvent partagée en cadeaux de mouches de pêche magnifiquement montées et en délicieuses pâtisseries).

Une célébration de la vie de Bill aura lieu au printemps prochain à une date encore à déterminer (les détails seront partagés plus tard), et comprendra une occasion de pêcher, de monter une mouche ou deux et de lever un verre à notre bien-aimé Bill, l'un des meilleurs des meilleurs.

Au lieu de fleurs, un don à la mémoire de Bill au Centre hospitalier pour enfants de l'est de l'Ontario, qui traite actuellement son petit-fils pour le cancer, sera grandement apprécié.
