Gronas, Betty Dawson
Passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday June 14 th at home at the age of 78.
Betty was born in Plymouth, England in 1939. She grew up in Rosyth, Scotland and read Mathematics at Edinburgh University, where she met her dashing husband-to-be and partner in life Arnulf.
Betty and Arnulf moved to Montreal from Norway in 1964. Initially, Betty taught high school math, and she later worked as a computer programmer and systems analyst. Never idle and always curious, after retirement Betty kept busy with hiking, skiing, strength training, quilting, reading, gardening, Sudoku, travelling, and volunteering.
Beloved wife of Arnulf, mother of Kirsti (John) and Rolf (Ka-Kei), Grandma to Erik, Adam, Sophie, Ioan and Eevee. She is also survived by her brothers David (Gill) and Alec (Morag), as well as their children and grandchildren.
Betty was a loyal and compassionate woman who touched the lives of many. Family and friends will celebrate her life on Saturday June 23rd.
