Bert Bibace

Born in Alexandria Egypt, Dec 6 th 1930. He was educated at Victoria College. Upon finishing, he immigrated to Canada in order to attend the University of British Columbia, where he graduated with a degree in Engineering Physics in 1952.While attending university he had several summer jobs including working in the lumber industry. It was during these years that he discovered the music scene and specifically a love for Jazz. He used to go down to the campus coffee shop where he would study while listening to live music. His professional career began when he accepted a job working for Northern Electric in Montreal, Quebec. He worked his way up through the company accepting the position of North American Director of Sales, Cable Division, in Ville St Laurent.He worked at Northern Electric his entire professional life until his retirement at age 59. He had a keen business sense, and an ability to see the big picture! Bert loved sports. He was an avid skier, tennis player and golfer. He also loved the game of soccer and field hockey. He was a fiercely devoted father and husband and his love of sports was shared by his wife, Gillian and instilled in his two sons, Robin and Ken. He also enjoyed playing bridge and had a fascination with technology and electronics, always informing himself of the most current developments. He had a lifelong interest with the stock market and became an astute investor. He is survived by his beloved wife Gillian, two loving sons, Robin and Ken and brother Roger. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
