Roy, Bernadette
The Roy girls are sad to announce the passing of their mom, Bernadette, on October 23, 2022.
She leaves behind her daughters Diane (Stuart MacMartin), Sue (Mike Waugh), Anne-Marie (Mark Hancock) and Jackie, and all their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and extended family and friends, whom she loved dearly.
Bernadette is happy to be reunited with her beloved husband, Yves, her mom, Georgina Leger, and her siblings, Irene (Ed Rey) and Léon (Gaëtane Beaulieu). She will finally be able to chat with her father, Séraphin.
Bernadette was born and grew up in New Brunswick. She was an elementary school teacher for 55 years and her belief in quality Catholic education expanded when she was elected as an Ottawa Catholic School Board trustee in the 1990s.
Following her teaching career, she spoke with high school students about living with HIV/AIDS and volunteered tirelessly with various parishes in Ottawa. Her quilts have swaddled babies around the world.
A special thanks to the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus for their dedication to patient care, especially the angels whom we call nurses.
Please join the family at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd, Nepean (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 6 -9 p.m., where masking is requested by the family. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Augustine’s Church, 1060 Baseline Rd, on Saturday, November 5 at 11:00 a.m. Donations in Bernadette’s memory may be made to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation.
