Died peacefully in Ottawa on July 27th, 2013 in her 94th year. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Lorne, her sisters Grace (Ted Bainard), Edith and Nora Kains, and her brother Archie Kains. She is survived by her children Michael (Jane), Sheila (Otto Vestergaard), Lisa (Paul Lynch), Peter (Ann), and Jason (Rhonda), grandchildren Kimberly, Catriona, Karsten (Irma), Marina (Jesper), Kari (Simon), Christopher (Mel), Michael (Sue), and Patrick, great grandchildren Dominic, Benedict, Bjarke, Aksel , Maggie and Olivia, sister in law Jo Kains, and many nieces and nephews, especially Frank (Lou). She was in England with the Medical Corps during the air armada of D Day and there met Captain Lorne Havard. They had many happy years raising their family in Winnipeg, Rougemont, Baie D'Urfé, and Milton. Barb was very involved with Girl Guides, her church and enjoyed concerts, theatre, and music. Barb had a passion for travel and hosting family and friends, bookclubs, lecture series and bridge. Her zeal for life inspired us all. Memorial service at St George's Anglican Church in Guelph, Wednesday, August 7 at 11am, reception to follow. Donations in her name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
