Auralie Fraser

May 5, 1927 — September 29, 2020

Auralie Edith Haws Fraser passed peacefully on September 29, 2020, at the Perley Rideau VHC, leaving behind 8 children, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Lee was predeceased by her loving husband, the Reverend Donald Ross Fraser and her son Ross Gordon, as well as her older brothers Dawson, Herbert, William, and her sisters Theresa, Isabel, Ella and Elsie.

Lee was an accomplished pianist, a talented artist and brought both a respect for nature and gardening to her family’s lives and a love of books, encouraging everyone to read at an early age. She received an Ontario Bi-Centennial Community award in 1984 for her many years of volunteering after setting up and running a public library in Chalk River, Ontario. Music and laughter, stories and song filled our home wherever we lived. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

The family wish to thank the staff at the Unitarian House where Auralie lived for 17 years for all their support and care. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the Perley Rideau staff who have made her last 3 years comfortable.

As per her wishes, cremation and a private family visitation will be arranged by Tubman Funeral Homes.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Unitarian House of Ottawa would be welcomed. Condolences, tributes and donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
