Archibald (Archie) Hendry

Passed away peacefully at the May Court Hospice on Sunday, November 16, 2014 in his 86 ^th year. Married to his lovely wife Barbara Ann for 62 years and father to Sheila, Ian and Brian, and daughter-in-law Sandi. Proud grandfather of Michael, David, Stephen, Bob, Sable and Mia. From the family farm in Newcastle, Ontario, Archie went to Kingston where he attended Queen's University (Engineering Physics graduated 1952) and met Barbara. He furthered his studies graduating from Carleton University in 1963 with an M.Sc. in Physics. He retired in 1986 after thirty-four years working in radar meteorology research at the National Research Council. He is remembered as a kind soul who helped neighbours in Merivale Gardens and Grenfell Glen, and as an active volunteer with the Boy Scouts, Stride, and the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada. He loved gardening, the pool, classical music and cheerfully fixing everything from toys to cars. Many heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at May Court Hospice, the medical team at the Ottawa General Hospital, and his many friends. Visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd.) on Friday, November 21 ^st from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the May Court Hospice would be appreciated.
