Alonzo “Lonnie” Sarazin was just 51 days away from his 100th birthday. Not bad, eh! for a tough Canadian born on August 31 in 1921. He crammed a lot in during those years and left a lot of inspiration behind to those he touched. His greatest accomplishment was choosing Marjorie Johnson as his wife, whom he celebrated a 74th anniversary, and together they left an offspring of great kids, wonderful grandchildren and amazing great grandchildren.
Lonnie was an avid golfer and didn’t toss the clubs aside until he was 97. If it wasn’t for a fall, he may still be with us. He passed away July 11, 2021, at the Queensway Carleton Hospital and his son Jim and daughter Donna were by his side during his final days. Lonnie was predeceased by his wife in July 2016, Jim’s twin brother Mike, who passed away in 2018, and grand daughter Jessie in 2016.
The elderly gentleman loved his grandchildren Gina (Troy) Davis, and Jason (Mary) Sarazin and his six great grandchildren, Mira and Sara Davis, Andrew and Alex Sarazin, Amber and Cody Morrissette. Jim’s wife Daphne and Donna’s husband Jack Verheyden were also high on Lonnie’s list and there were many nieces and nephews up there as well. Three of his favorites were Marion, Adrian, and Cleo. Two special friends included Carolyn Eckersley and her mother Pat who set a place setting for Lonnie on many special occasions.
