Alice Alexander

August 13, 1918 — May 6, 2014

In hospital, Carleton Place, Ontario on May 6, 2014, in her 96th year. Born in Ottawa on August 13, 1918, pre-deceased by her husband of 51 years, George Cooper, whom she absolutely adored. Survived by her daughters, Patricia Hansen (Henry) and Michele (Mickey) Gain (Don) and son Stephen Cooper (Cynthia). Also left to mourn are 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandson, all of whom loved their “Cupper”. Lal got the most out of life, enjoying every minute, making friends wherever she went, with her effervescent personality and her generous and caring nature. There were few idle moments in her life, and she excelled at all she tackled – from bowling to golf to playing Bridge. She and George loved to travel, spending time in England, Spain, Egypt and many winters in Florida. Lal also ran the Aladdin Motel for many years, doing everything that needed to be done, from cleaning to laundry to keeping the books and meeting and charming the guests, getting up bright and early each morning to serve coffee and donuts. She lived in Ottawa her entire life until her move in February of this year to Riverview Seniors Residence in Carleton Place. She will be sorely missed. Friends may call at the Carleton Place Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 61 Lake Avenue West from 1pm to 2pm on May 8 until time of Funeral Service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society Canada or Crohn’s-Colitis Foundation of Canada.
