Moreland, Albert John
Moreland, Albert John, 76, of Ottawa, Canada passed peacefully while surrounded by family and loved ones, Thursday, Nov 18, 2021. Bert spent a career in marketing, and then once retired, thoroughly enjoyed working at the LCBO. His true passion was the game of golf, where he committed most of his time to playing at the professional level. In 1966 a blind date led him to the love of his life, where he met his wife Marg of 52 years. As life, marriage and responsibilities changed, he could always be found golfing with friends and his new protégées, the grandkids. Bert spent many years involved with Scout’s Canada, while teaching, camping and learning with his son David, or out on the hockey rink for those early morning dedicated practices. If you weren’t sure of the local sports events, there was always a radio or a tv on somewhere in his presence, and he was happy to keep you up to date with all the stats. Bert had a fond love of camping and travel with extended family and friends over the years and could always be found in charge of the barbeque, the entertainment or rallying the children together. Born August 31, 1945, Montreal, Quebec, is predeceased by his parents Isabelle Penelope (nee Carswell), Albert James Moreland, and sister Penny. Bert is survived by his wife Margaret (nee Hamilton). Bert’s love of family will continue to grow through his son David (wife Lori) and Vicki (husband Murray Arkinstall) and the lights of his life, four grandchildren: Aiden, Avery, Kaleigh and Cameron. Bert’s family meant more to him than anything else in the world and he was endlessly proud. His knowledge and guidance was the foundation of his family, and he made sure that each of us had every opportunity available through his experience, generosity, time, love and laughter. He will be forever in our hearts and memories. Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, family ask donations to be considered to the Queensway Carleton Hospital.
