It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Alan John Sevigny of Ottawa at the age of 68, following a courageous battle with a brain tumour and complications from radiation.
Alan was a devoted and loving husband for 46 happy years to his wife Anne (nee Greer), beloved father of Christine (Dale) and Jennifer, and proud grandfather to Atticus. He is survived by his brothers Martin (Debbie), Peter (Gayle) and Larry (Diane), all of Ottawa, and will be deeply missed by his entire family as well as by his many cherished friends.
Throughout his adult life, Alan was an avid golfer, a voracious reader, and a lover of long walks with his wife through the woods near his home with his dogs, and on the beach in Hilton Head, SC. He also spent many happy hours discussing (or rather, debating) politics with his family and friends, going to Ottawa U football games with his brother Martin, cheering for Liverpool FC with his son-in-law, and playing with his grandson.
His family, while devastated to lose him, is profoundly grateful for the countless joyful times they had together and for all of the happy memories they will always have of him. They would also like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Ottawa General Hospital who exhibited such compassion and kindness during the final weeks of Alan’s life and helped him to find his “serenity now”.
Friends and family wishing to pay their respects to Alan will be able to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated.
