On Sunday July 16 2017, A. Bruce Cummings passed away suddenly at home with family by his side. Beloved husband of Donna (nee Bailey) for 58 years. Loving father of Rick (Gail), Brian (Nancy), Dale (Judy), and Earl (Elaine). Proud grandfather of Amanda (Alex McKenzie), Lisa, Sarah, Kate, Emily, Erin, and Cameron and adoring great-grandfather of Ryan and Owen. Dear brother of Isobel Hodges (the late Wes), George "Bud" (the late Lorna), the late Tommy and brother-in-law of Isabel (Al), late Christine (late Terry), Doris (Ron) and Dianne (late Darrell). Predeceased by his parents Hazel (nee Olmstead) and George Cummings, his mother-in-law Eva Carriere and his brother-in-law David Moore. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Bruce grew up in the Westboro area of Ottawa, Ontario. He graduated from Kemptville Agricultural College, and worked for 37 years with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada at the Central Experimental Farm. He was a dedicated and well-respected technician, and contributed to the advancement of the field of plant genetics. He was a lifelong learner and avid reader.

Bruce was extremely creative, especially in the areas of carpentry and woodworking, and had a love and passion for music. Bruce sang and played guitar, accompanying his wife's fiddle and piano playing. Upon his retirement, he became more involved in the Old Time Fiddlers, and was a founding member of the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Competition.

Bruce was gentle, kind, and eager to help lend a hand, and was often called on by family and friends, whether it was a building project or fixing a car. He was a gentleman, loving and devoted husband and father. He was a storyteller with a great sense of humour.

He was a great man, a great father, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
