History
In the early 1920's, Ab & Jean Tubman established the Ashton community general store and a livery service. Ab became the local undertaker in February 1925 and conducted his first funeral on June 28th of that year.

In 1929, he and his family moved into the building that is now the Westboro Chapel. The original building consisted of two store fronts and rented apartments above. The family lived on the main floor and conducted funerals from the "front parlour". Later, they moved into the upstairs apartments and operated the business from the entire main floor. Joe Tubman, John Tubman and their families have all have lived in the apartments over the years.
Joe purchased the business and real estate from his father in 1956.
Julie Tubman joined her father Joe in 1979 as a licensed Funeral Director, and succeeded him as President upon his death in 1987.
Julie continues the family tradition of providing professional funeral services to the community.
Today, Tubman Funeral Homes provides funeral services to all faiths, all cultures, all people in Ottawa - Carleton and the Outaouais through six locations: Ottawa, Nepean, Carp, Kars, Gatineau and Buckingham.
